Autostabilization & Startup (Mi-8)

Soviet Mi-8 cockpit prompt reading Автостабилизация: Вкл, with the R Завести двигатель and Space Отпустить тормоза prompts in the corner

Mi-8 Startup

Автостабилиза́ция
Autostabilization (F-key prompt, the Mi-8's hover-assist/autopilot toggle)
  • NOM Автостабилиза́ция · Dictionary автостабилиза́ция (fem., "autostabilization"), a compound of а́вто- + стабилиза́ция.
Завести́ дви́гатель
Start the engine (R-key prompt)
  • завести́ · Infinitive (pf., "to start (an engine)").
  • ACC дви́гатель · Dictionary дви́гатель (masc.);
    Direct object of завести́, accusative (inanimate, same as nominative).
Отпусти́ть тормоза́
Release the brakes (Space-key prompt; тормоза́ is the plural of то́рмоз, "brake", with the stress shifting to the last syllable)
  • отпусти́ть · Infinitive (pf., "to release/let go").
  • ACC тормоза́ · Dictionary то́рмоз (masc.), accusative plural (inanimate, same as nominative plural);
    Direct object of отпусти́ть.

Control Lock (Mi-8)

Soviet Mi-8 cockpit prompt reading Блокировка управления: Разблокировано, while holding binoculars

Mi-8 Control Lock

Блокиро́вка управле́ния: разблоки́ровано
Control lock: Unlocked (F-key prompt toggling the flight-control lock)
  • NOM Блокиро́вка · Dictionary блокиро́вка (fem., "lock/locking");
    Head noun, nominative.
  • GEN управле́ния · Dictionary управле́ние (neut., "controls/steering"), genitive;
    Modifies Блокиро́вка ("lock of the controls").
  • разблоки́ровано · Short-form neuter passive participle of разблоки́ровать (pf., "to unlock"), the state value for this toggle (this switch uses its own on/off wording, not the page's shared Включено́/Вы́ключено pair).

Cockpit: Gunsight & Collective (Huey)

Looking up through the UH-1 Huey's windscreen at the overhead gunsight, with the centre prompt Поставить коллиматорный прицел and the lower-left control hints Рычаг «шаг-газ» and Заглушить двигатель.

Cockpit Controls

Поста́вить коллима́торный прице́л
Fit the reflex sight
  • Поста́вить · Infinitive (pf., "to put, to set in place, to fit").
  • ACC прице́л · Dictionary прице́л (masc., "sight, aiming device");
    Direct object of поста́вить, accusative singular, identical to the nominative because it is inanimate.
  • ACC коллима́торный ("collimator, reflex") · Agrees with прице́л, accusative masc. inanimate.
  • A коллима́торный прице́л is what English calls a reflex or red dot sight. On the Huey it is the fixed gunsight above the pilot's seat, so this prompt swings it into position rather than attaching an optic to a rifle.
Рыча́г «шаг-газ»
Collective lever (literally the "pitch-throttle" lever)
  • NOM Рыча́г · Dictionary рыча́г (masc., "lever");
    Head noun, and the only word here that declines.
  • Шаг-газ is the Russian aviation name for the collective. Шаг is the rotor blades' pitch and газ is engine power, and this one lever changes both together, which is exactly what a collective does.
  • Both halves of the compound are single syllables, so neither carries a stress mark, and the quoted name keeps its dictionary form after рыча́г.
  • The other control hint on this screen, Заглуши́ть дви́гатель ("Shut down the engine"), is already taught on the Vehicles page, so it is not repeated here.
